Apple has officially announced the release date for iOS 18.1 on compatible iPhones. The wait won't be long.
Apple finally unveiled the iPhone 16 and its Plus, Pro and Pro Max variants to the general public at its keynote on Monday September 9. Tech enthusiasts are now waiting for just one thing: to be able to hold one of Apple's four smartphones in their hands. To take full advantage of the iPhone 16's capabilities, however, we'll have to wait for the arrival of iOS 18.1, scheduled for October.
Apple announces iOS 18.1 for iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 in October
Apple detailed the major improvements brought by iOS 18 at last June's WWDC. The new version of the operating system will be available on compatible iPhones from September 16. You can already test the iOS 18 RC beta if your smartphone lets you.
On the other hand, you'll have to wait a little longer to enjoy the AI-powered features of Apple Intelligence, only available via iOS 18.1. The good news is that the public version of the OS will arrive in October. "The first set of Apple Intelligence features will be available in beta next month as part of iOS 18.1," says Apple on its official website. The American manufacturer also indicates which smartphones will be compatible:
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 15 Pro
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
Unfortunately, French users won't be able to take advantage of Apple Intelligence on iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 this year. The suite of features based on artificial intelligence will not be available in our language until 2025. As a reminder, you can pre-order one of the four iPhone 16 models from Friday September 13. They will be available in stores from Friday September 20.
